Probate

Probate

Probate is the determination of the legal authority of a will and a grant of probate is the document which confirms the validity of a will and the appointment of an executor to administer the estate of a deceased person. If you have been named to execute a person’s will, you may have to apply for probate to deal with the deceased person's affairs. In case of there being no will left by the deceased, a 'grant of letters of administration' can be applied for by a close relative, represented by a solicitor. However, personal representation may not be granted probate until inheritance tax due on the estate has been settled. As probate is the court’s authority, it is usually required as proof to administer an estate. If you are the executor of a will, you must find an experienced lawyer to work on the matter of probate, and that is where Legal Compare can assist you.
